You could easily say the last traditional Rover was the P5. After this, Rovers came with 4-cylinder engines and adapted all sorts of modern structural and safety features. With 129hp from its straight six, its power was probably as adequate for its size as the Rolls Royce’s was for its size. Few of these cars remain in North America, although with British sedans being more popular in Canada, some made it into the US that way. One car that might have followed that path is this 1965 Rover P5 Coupe for sale for $1500 in Anchorage, AK.

Frozen Auntie – 1965 Rover P5 Coupe
September 5, 2014Going, going, gone? – 1970 Saab 99
September 4, 2014In spite of their reputation for durability in the Swedish tradition, surviving Saab 99s are quite a rare beast. Perhaps they were too well-designed for the snow, causing most to migrate to frozen climes just like old Peugeot 504s migrated south from Europe to North Africa, or old people migrated south from Manhattan to Florida. So maybe quite a few older Saabs migrated north to Alaska, where they’re in a climate that’s comfortable for them. You can find this 1970 Saab 99 for sale for an unspecified price in Homer, AK.
It’s a Bav – 1973 BMW Bavaria
September 4, 2014It’s been a while since a Bavaria has appeared here, so when a recent search yielded a running example, it was an automatic candidate for a write-up. These 7-series predecessors are finally getting some of the respect they deserve, much like other less desirable relatives of more popular cars (see Alfa Giulia TI/Giulia Super/Berlina, Dino coupe/spider, Porsche 912). So your former parts donor is now a source for more than parts – it’s a source of a similar driving experience at a more accessible cost of entry, and sometimes one you can more easily share with friends. Check out this 1973 BMW Bavaria for sale for $2500 in Port St. Lucie, FL.
