Tarnished Crowns – Pair of 1969 Toyota Coronas

January 20, 2016

While Toyota sedans of the late sixties never had the sporting reputation of the Datsun competition, they’re still a compelling driver classic with funky Japanese styling, available manual transmission and a willing 1.9-liter four-cylinder. Arguably Toyota’s “break-out hit”, the independent front suspension should help with the handling, and the light weight can’t hurt either. While there were plenty manufactured and sold around the world, that means finding one shouldn’t be too hard, nor should keeping it up. We have a couple of examples to look at today – first, let’s check out this 1969 Toyota Corona for sale for $3300 in Stockton, CA.

RHD UKDM No i – 1984 Honda Civic 1500S

January 11, 2016

There’s something fun about driving what looks to be an ordinary car, but with right-hand-drive, in North America. People will expect it to be an ordinary car, so unlike having a right-hand-drive version of something unusual, they won’t look too closely and probably get pretty confused when you get into what they think is the passenger seat. Once you’re past that, though, the older Honda Civics hold up as pretty cool compact cars, more so if you consider one that’s got none of the nasty North American emissions compromises, in addition to sweet 1980s lower-door decals and Mugen wheels. If you want a reliable daily driver that will also throw people for a loop, have a look at this 1984 Honda Civic 1500S for sale for $4500 in Boise, ID.

Stock? Really? – 1990 Honda Civic CR-X Si

December 28, 2015

Toyota’s MR2 has a more exotic layout, and is less likely to be the recipient of poorly judged upgrades from your local purveyor of diamond plate floor mats and neon green nylon seat covers, but when you find an apparently stock example of Honda’s CR-X, it’s hard to ignore. And if you enjoy the responsive engine and sharp handling, but want a little extra utility, the sporty version of the 2-seat commuter as interpreted by Honda is well worth consideration. Let’s check out this 1990 Honda CR-X Si for sale for $2600 in Vancouver, WA.
