Eighties Vee Dub Pair – 1987 VW Scirocco 16v and 1984 VW Rabbit GTI

June 17, 2014

While the second generation Scirocco, with its giant impact bumpers and somewhat blander styling, doesn’t warm the cockles of our icy cold hearts like the first generation car does, it’s still quite a compelling drivetrain package in a very 1980s body style. That 16-valve engine was on every young gearhead’s list back when they were new, perhaps more in the GTI than the Scirocco, but no matter – 26 years (wait, what?) of perspective makes you see things somewhat differently. If you’re not swayed, check out this 1987 VW Scirocco 16v for sale for $3500 in Washington County, west of Portland, OR.

Bargain 96 – 1970 Saab 96

June 13, 2014

As a car lover, it’s hard to see how anyone would have a hard time appreciating a Saab – even if you aren’t a fan, they certainly had their own style and a unique way of solving the problem of how to get 4 people to their destination, and were very dedicated to automotive engineering. And while the older Saabs seem to be disappearing to all but enthusiast ownership, you can occasionally find a driver condition model of one of the V4-powered cars. Check out this 1970 Saab 96 for sale for $3900 in Los Angeles, CA.

Italian 4-Door – 1974 Alfa Romeo Berlina

June 13, 2014

For some reason, the popular North American perception of Italian cars does not include practical things like sedans and hatchbacks, which is likely part of the reason why attempts to sell them have rarely been very successful. But what do these people who are responsible for the perceptions of the majority think Italian drive when they have a family, or can’t afford a sports car? Golfs and Corollas? Well, that’s probably true in the current market, but 40 years ago, they drove things like an Alfa Romeo Berlina. Check out this 1974 Alfa Romeo Berlina for sale for $1500 in Duluth, MN.
