Another $2800 – 1973 BMW Bavaria (plus bonus 1972 Bavaria!)

June 12, 2014

It’s an interesting exercise to just pull a random price out of a hat and see what you can get for that. While not by design, the last two cars – a running but very faded Fiat 1100, and a similar condition Fiat 128 – were both priced at $2800, and so is our next feature. Check out this 1973 BMW Bavaria for sale for $2800 in Newark, NJ. Oh, how the mighty have fallen to the level of the plebeian cars…

Rise & Decline – 1978 Fiat 128 Sedan

June 12, 2014

With the support of the compact 128 sedan, Fiat sales rose above 100,000 in 1975. However, lax build quality, poor resistance to corrosion, and poorly-trained mechanics all led to Fiat’s demise in North America, and they pulled out in 1983. At this point, you’d expect the survivors are mostly the mid-week cars that were the best-assembled. However, being cheap cars, there are still some about that need work, and being old cars, there are some that have sat for ages and need attention. This seems to be the case for this 1978 Fiat 128 sedan for sale for $2800 in Elmhurst, IL.

Behind Door #3 – 1958 Fiat 1100 103D

June 10, 2014

Back in the days when GM, Chrysler and Ford were appending giant tailfins to their cars, and manufacturers around the world couldn’t decide which way the doors should open, Fiat released the 1100 into the marketplace. If you’ll recall, the 1950s and 1960s produced cars with suicide doors in the front, suicide doors in the back, gullwing doors, sliding doors, and no doors at all. Lancia’s Appia even had no b-pillar and rear suicide doors to aid access. Interestingly, there was no car with suicide doors front and rear. Check out this 1958 Fiat 1100 for sale for $2800 in Sanger, CA.
