Any European or Japanese car enthusiast should be able to easily appreciate the virtues of the Mazda RX-2. Sharing styling cues with the Fiat 124 coupe and Dino coupe, or with the Opel Manta if that’s your preference, it had the power and smoothness of Mazda’s licensed-from-NSU rotary engine. Further developed at this point, the 12A rotary was starting to show increasing levels of reliability to go with its power, but ultimately didn’t survive in family sedans thanks to the oil crisis, which shone a bright light on its drinking problem. You can find this 1974 Mazda RX-2 sedan for sale for $2750 in Snellville, GA (northeast of Atlanta).

Cheap for an RX-2? 1974 Mazda RX-2
April 7, 2014Rusty But Trusty on the Street – BMW 2002tii, Jaguar XJ6, Pontiac Catalina, Datsun 2000, and Mercedes 280SL
April 1, 2014Time for more catching up on the local sights. First off is an early-morning sighting of a BMW 2002tii the way we like them – daily driven and a little crispy around the edges. This would probably horrify the local BMWCCA show crowd – after all, no amount of Q-tips will clean the dirt out of the nooks and crannies on this one – but it’s great to see someone actually using their 2002 – a tii no less – as intended. This looks to be the Agave green color, and aside from the rust, it looks really straight and complete, down to the steel tii wheels with hubcaps. This has been a California car since at least the early 1980s, judging by the sunrise plates.
Texas Truck – 1972 Suzuki Carry Pickup
March 25, 2014If someone said they wanted to show you a truck from Texas, would you have expected this? Well, the Suzuki Carry and its ilk have been popular for quite a while among landscapers and owners of large properties. While they’re not legal for on-road use, they function pretty well as a sort of motorized wheel barrow, bigger than adapted golf carts and with a more conventional drive train. Powered by a 359cc two-stroke inline 2-cylinder putting out a robust 28hp, they featured a watered-down version of the previous (L40) generation’s Giugiaro styling, and could haul up to 770 lb. And while there’s not much engine in there, they’re pretty light and the front-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout (with little weight over the back) means there might be some tail-out fun to be had, particularly on dirt roads. Check out this 1972 Suzuki Carry pickup for sale for $3500 in Anna, TX.
