ItalDesign Classic – 1978 VW Scirocco

June 2, 2015

Since cars like VW’s Scirocco are not seen as classics by many in the vintage car scene, they’re an unrecognized bargain. For some reason, Italian design plus simple German mechanicals do not add up to a usable classic car, yet at this point the Mark 1 cars are at least 34 years old. If you’re not convinced by age or design, how about the fact these Karmann-built cars rust with the best of them and can suffer electrical problems brought on by leaking windshield seals? Check out this 1978 VW Scirocco for sale for $2800 in Vancouver, WA.

Nineties 02 – 1992 Volkswagen Jetta GLI

March 9, 2015

So you want a nimble, light sports sedan that’s not heavy with power windows and seats, airbags and other safety nonsense, and a good driver 2002 has moved out of range? All is not lost, by far. Twenty years after the 2002 went out of production, you could get quite a few sporty sedans that were relatively light, similarly quick, and fun to drive, with technology that was not available on the 2002 – things like electronic fuel injection and four-valve-per-cylinder heads, plus you might get somewhat better handling in poor conditions. Check out this 1992 Volkswagen Jetta GLI for sale for $3000 in Edmonds, WA.

Powder Bug – 1972 VW Beetle Convertible

October 2, 2014

It’s easy enough to find a cheap convertible, and to find a cheap Beetle, but to find an affordable VW Beetle convertible is not the easiest task. Most are complete piles with a shredded roof and sunbaked paint, or nicely preserved/restored with a corresponding price. If you’re looking for a little taste of that 1940s touring convertible experience, with the large pram-style folding top and almost-separate fenders, you should look no further than the VW Beetle convertible. Check out this 1972 VW Beetle convertible for sale for $4000 in Los Gatos, CA.
