Grumpy – 1972 BMW 2002

December 17, 2013

There are many ways to sell a car online, from the one liner to the full photo gallery and description. Somewhere to the left (or right, depending on your proclivities) of center is the angry seller. Perhaps informed by previous experiences on craigslist, their sales approach includes lines like “no lowballs”, “no scammers”, “don’t ask for pictures”, and more. Are they really trying to sell a car? Their ears are probably burning as this post is being typed, and irritation is rising from an unknown source. Depending on your temperament, you can either blow these guys off, or realize your interaction with the seller is relatively brief, especially if what they’re selling is good. And speaking of good, it’s harder and harder to find roundie BMWs for a fair price that are feasible driving projects. Check out this 1972 BMW 2002 for sale in Burbank, CA for $4000.

Model 120 – 1967 BMW 2000CS

December 11, 2013

The gorgeous BMW E9 coupes are among the cars quickly escaping the reach of the average collector/driver. Looking around, you’ll see their immediate predecessor, known internally at BMW as the Model 120, and to the general public as the 2000C and 2000CS. These cars have lived in the shadow of their younger E9 siblings since about 1968, due to their unique front-end styling and 4-cylinder engines. In specific, the 2000C with its 100hp single-carb engine and automatic transmission was a bit of a dog. However, BMW woke the car up a bit with the dual carburetor, manual shift 2000CS, which put out 120hp. Some careful modifications can turn this into a fairly competitive car compared to its contemporaries (Alfa Romeo GTV, anyone?), and you still get that gorgeous greenhouse found on the later E9 cars. You can find this 1967 BMW 2000CS for sale in Arlington, VA for $1800.

Plastic Fantastic – 1972 Bradley GT

December 11, 2013

We haven’t had the occasion to feature many kit cars, primarily because the ones at the lower end of the price range are non-running kits that were never completed in the first place. However, given the growing craze for older fiberglass cars (both 1950s kits and Manx-type dune buggies), it’s worth look at this category a little more closely. Wouldn’t it be nice to be an early adopter on some kind of bandwagon and have a little fun along the way? Check out this 1972 Bradley GT for sale in Morris, OH for $1800.
