Who doesn’t like themselves a small, nimble, lightweight car that can untangle the twisties? By the early 1990s, such a car was becoming fairly rare. Sure, you could buy fun compacts all day, like the GTI, Civic Si, Mirage Turbo and Corolla FX16. But the subcompact class was pretty sparse, with the depressing Ford Aspire (tagline: “I aspire to no longer drive this car”), Geo Metro, and Kia Spectra as your main options… with one glowing exception: this Suzuki Swift GTi. You can find this little rocket, which is sure to be 2041’s Mini Cooper S in terms of collectibility, for sale with bidding at $2000 and only one day left to go in Oakland, CA.

November 21, 2013High Miler – 1986 BMW 535i
November 20, 2013As E28 (second-generation) BMW 5-series start to disappear, the cars with the greatest survival rate seem to be the less-inspiring 528e models, usually equipped with a power-sucking automatic transmission. They’re most often seen with flaking clearcoat, bent park-bench bumpers, and a sagging rear. So it’s always a pleasure to see one of the more sporting e28 models, whether it’s a 533i or an M5. For today, we have this 1986 BMW 535i with 300,000 miles for sale in West Seattle, WA for $2250.
Ceci N’est Pas Un Policier – 1969 Renault R10
November 20, 2013Based on the Renault 8, which itself was based on the Dauphine of 1956, the 1965-71 Renault 10 received the Caravelle’s 1108cc engine, and benefited from a larger nose (insert inappropriate French stereotype here) in which the owner could store more luggage. The interesting thing about this car is the engines available in its little brother, including a 1255cc engine with an impressive 103hp – this when the Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 Junior Stradale had 96-110hp, depending on spec. The car itself definitely has a funky which-way-is-it-going vibe, which would actually make it a great sleeper, providing you can keep the front wheels on the ground. Check out this 1969 Renault 10 for sale in Alliance (really!), OH for $1500.
