Go-Rolla – 1979 Toyota Corolla

March 17, 2016

Sometimes, you can find a car that allows you to both get in on a growing trend, while still getting decent performance for fair money. You might be wondering what a stock 1979 Corolla with the simple addition of JDM-tite-yo mirrors is doing here, but hang on for more details on that. While the Corolla’s current reputation is cemented as an emotionless, reliable-as-death-and-taxes car that will bore anyone who’ll sit in it into working on clearing out their email inbox, brushing their teeth and sipping a latte while driving it, nostalgia means we can look at the few older examples that remain and appreciate them for what they are. But before that, let’s look back at period reviews, in which they were actually criticized by Road & Track for being too large, heavy, overpriced, too small inside, and for consuming too much fuel. The rear suspension also came under fire for being crude. With that convincing sales pitch, you’ll definitely want to check out this 1979 Toyota Corolla for sale for $3000 in Austin, TX.

NO Beetle – 1969 Saab 96

March 7, 2016

If you’re an extrovert, owning any older car is fun, but cars like the Saab 96 are particularly fun in that way – no doubt, plenty of people will come up to you and ask about your weird little car, and if you’re fortunate enough to have a two-stroke one, they’ll wonder what that weird noise/smell is, or why you’re putting oil in the gas. In 1967, though, Saab moved on to the V4, and by 1969 you could no longer get a two-smoke in your 96, but that probably won’t keep people coming up to you if you decide to drive this 1969 Saab 96 for sale for $3500 in Portland, OR.

Early Influence – 1980 BMW 528i

March 3, 2016

BMW’s E12 5-series was arguably the first manifestation of their transition from a brief phase as a manufacturer of spartan sport sedans into their current phase as a builder of luxury sport sedans. The experience of driving a 5-series (or any of the cars that came after) was very compelling, but not quite as raw (nor were the cars as light) as any of the Neue Klasse-derived cars. Curiously, these still remain one of the undiscovered bargains of the classic BMW world, perhaps just because they’re overshadowed by the E28 5-series and the E10 2002. So let’s take a look at this 1980 BMW 528i for sale for $3750 in Portland, OR.
