As with many other older sports cars, MGBs have moved from being a 15-20 year old used car to a classic sports car. With that usually comes an attendant price increase, and it’s no different for the MGB. If you’re looking for the typical British sports car experience, you could hardly do better, but where $4000 or so used to get you a nice driver, it now gets you a driving project. Check out this 1969 MGB for sale for $3600 in Fremont, CA.

No Giggling – 1969 MGB
July 1, 2014Most Popular – 1980 MGB
January 23, 2014A not-so-recent article in Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car listed the world’s most popular (by quantity built) open cloth top roadsters. It bridged a whole variety of the class, all the way from the MG Midget to the Mercedes R107 SL, with many in between, and serves as good inspiration for a couple of postings. While the Mazda Miata was the most popular car on the list, second place went to the MGB. While many of these have moved out of reach for the collector on a budget, it is still possible to find some nice-looking examples at a reasonable price, particularly if you’re willing to compromise on things like giant, black battering ram bumpers and a color that makes you want to reach for a packet of Swiss Miss (or worse, but this is a mostly family friendly website). You can find this 1980 MGB for sale in Kansas City, MS for $4000.
Not Wankered – 1972 MBG Roadster
September 21, 2013Here at RustyButTrusty, we’ve made varying levels of attempts to get friends into old cars, mostly with limited success. Often this is because an old car is not suitable for the potential buyer’s lifestyle. However, a friend visiting from Finland wanted to buy an older sports car to bring back with him, so after making some calls, doing some research and a careful inspection, we purchased an MGB that was very similar to today’s feature car, a 1972 MGB roadster in white on black with Rostyle wheels, available for $3800 in Moyie Springs, ID, close to the Canadian border.
