In the context of finding ways to get the high-dollar driving experience on a RustyButTrusty budget, one car to consider is the Jaguar XJ6. Ever drooled over a Jaguar E-type? Yes? Well, the XJ6 gives you the same engine and suspension, similar interior experience, and gorgeous (if not quite drool-worthy) styling for a fraction of the price. Many early XJ6s have had their inline sixes replaced with Chevrolet 350 V8s thanks to chronic overheating and reliability issues, but this one was fortunate to escape that fate. Is any modification needed to achieve an exhaust note similar to that of the E-type? Find out with this 1973 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 Series 1, for sale in Port Townsend, WA for $3800.

December 19, 2013Hoard Sale – From Alfa to Volvo
December 17, 2013Most often, sales of large collections are full of a bunch of junk, and only one or two gems. However, when the seller is a retiring European car mechanic, you’re bound to get some interesting finds. The seller’s father was in the business for 30 years, and clearly felt the same about cars as some people feel about dogs, cats, or friends with emotional trauma – they love the idea of a project. This project car collection is for sale in Olympia, WA, with no asking prices, aside from a request not to offer scrap prices (although what that is, is not clear). To start us off, here’s a 1981 Alfa Romeo GTV6 with no obvious damage, although protracted outdoor storage in what looks to be a damp forest will mean it needs a lot.
The Tender – 1959 Hillman Husky
December 12, 2013Have you ever heard people say that a car is such a big boat it needs a tender/dinghy? The Cadillac just featured could easily be a candidate for that strategy, what with the excessive length and depressing fuel mileage. Fortunately, we’re thinking about you here at RustyButTrusty, and to prove it, here’s a 1959 Hillman Husky for sale in Puyallup, WA for $2800.
