Back to Basics – 1964 Austin Healey Sprite

May 12, 2016

When your main work is with older cars that have things like dual overhead cams, fuel injection, limited slip differentials, and even a heater, it’s nice to fantasize about the simplicity of owning one of the most basic of sports cars. The Austin Healey/MG Spridget definitely qualifies for that category, particularly in its earlier Mark 2 iteration, with a simple 1098cc single carb overhead valve engine and optional equipment like heat and side windows. Let’s take a look at this 1964 Austin Healey Sprite for sale for $4000 in Los Gatos, CA.

From the Alps – 1969 Sunbeam Alpine GT

April 9, 2016

Sixties and seventies coupes and GT cars on the affordable end of the scale are a big part of the content here, and cars like Capris and Alfetta GTs are frequent features. Sunbeam Alpines in the later Hillman Hunter-based version have interesting Barracuda-influenced styling and a powerplant that, fitted with the optional Holbay head, can produce a decent amount of power. What’s more is, if you go for this later Alpine hardtop, you get a pillarless style as a bonus. Unfortunately, the cars were never as cherished as their earlier convertible siblings, and so most of them are projects – some better, some worse. Fortunately, a fairly decent looking one has come up recently – check out this 1969 Sunbeam Alpine GT for sale for $2150 in Vancouver, WA.

Milk Crate Roller – 1969 Rolls Royce Silver Spur

April 4, 2016

If you have any intentions of being a well-rounded car enthusiast, you need to experience a super-depreciated luxury car at some point in your life. A 1960s Lincoln or Cadillac would be a good choice, or perhaps a Mercedes or Jaguar from the late 1960s or 1970s, or a 1980s BMW. But what if your tastes are more discerning, and you want your leather-and-wood interior combined with a tall chrome grill, understated, boxy design, and needless complexity? In that case, only a Rolls Royce will do, and to keep the purchase price manageable you’ll have to be very selective. But that’s where RustyButTrusty comes in, finding you this 1969 Rolls Royce Silver Spur for sale for $2950 in Davie, FL.
