This is starting to feel like a Saab 900-specific place, but honestly, there seem to be a good batch of them out there right now. Surprisingly, there are even more than the featured cars, but the ones shown here seem to represent some of the best or most unique of the cars available. In terms of its performance models, Saab had the SPG cars starting in 1986, and the Aero cars starting in 1993, but this is neither of those. It’s a 900 turbo with a very 1980s aero package – whale tail rear spoiler, deep front spoiler, SPG-style side cladding and rear vent covers, and rear skirts. Is it possible this is an SPG and the seller is simply not aware? You can find this 1986 Saab 900 turbo maybe-SPG for $3488 in Fremont, CA.

October 15, 2013One More Time – 1986 Saab Turbo
October 6, 2013Frequent coverage of available Saabs will make this entry no surprise, but there are a couple of remarkable things about this car that merit a feature. While Saabs have a reputation for durability, for reasons that are not immediately apparent, we don’t see as many high-mileage examples offered as we would for other very durable makes. Perhaps collapsed driver’s seats have rendered them all undrivable? You can find this 1986 Saab 900 turbo 5-speed 3-door hatch for $2500 in North Seattle, WA.
Turbo Notches – Pair of Saab 900 Turbo Sedans
October 5, 2013It’s amazing and kind of sad it’s become a rarity to see original Saab 900s driving around on the street anymore. For the level of popularity they had in the 1980s, and a level of durability comparable to a Volvo 240, you’d expect to see more survivors. Perhaps their performance orientation means more have succumbed to accidents or engine failure, but in any case, it’s a treat to see one being driven. While ownership of a 900 sedan brings up some tough questions (try buying a Christmas tree with your non-hatch car, for example), at this point, the rarity means you should include the sedan in your search for the best car out there. And speaking of best car out there, let’s check out the best car for the price, a 1984 Saab 900 turbo sedan for only $450 in Simi Valley, CA.
