One More Time – 1986 Saab Turbo

Frequent coverage of available Saabs will make this entry no surprise, but there are a couple of remarkable things about this car that merit a feature. While Saabs have a reputation for durability, for reasons that are not immediately apparent, we don’t see as many high-mileage examples offered as we would for other very durable makes. Perhaps collapsed driver’s seats have rendered them all undrivable? You can find this 1986 Saab 900 turbo 5-speed 3-door hatch for $2500 in North Seattle, WA.

Perhaps the photography in a nice setting is flattering, but the car looks to have had an excellent repaint in the original color. Seller removed the badges for the repaint and never replaced them, but restored badges are included in the sale. The seller is the second owner and appears to have had the car for the last 16 years, and has brought the mileage up to 309,000 miles!

The car is said to be tight, which presumably refers to the suspension, and the car has a recent tune-up and clutch. Three sections of the exhaust system have been replaced, so you’ll have to roll down your window to hear that classic 900 sound. All in all, the seller says the car runs and drives very well.

The interior looks very tidy and well-kept, which bodes well for the overall condition. Saab’s leather seats tend to dry out, so the cloth upholstery is a plus here. The headliner also seems to be holding up well – just don’t drive with all 4 windows open! Unfortunately, there is no engine shot, so there’s your opener for a conversation with the seller!
