Value-Priced Curves – 1969 Opel GT

July 11, 2016

On the curves per dollar scale, there aren’t many more cost effective cars than the Opel GT. You get exaggerated Coke-bottle styling on a Kadett-sized platform, and yet somehow it works well – the car doesn’t wind up looking cartoonish, instead evoking some of the best 1960s sports and racing cars with its quad round tail lights mounted on a Kamm tail, and curvy side profile that’s often attributed to the C3 Corvette, unfairly overlooking cars like the underappreciated Alfa Romeo TZ2, Ferrari 250 GTO, and Shelby Cobra Daytona. So if you are looking for swoopy styling at a fair price, you could do worse than looking at this 1969 Opel GT for sale for $3500 in Mehama, OR.

Detroit Iron – 1975 Alfa Romeo Alfetta Berlina

July 8, 2016

With RustyButTrusty headquarters located on the west coast, it’s not unusual to see cars that lean away from the rusty end of the spectrum. Experience shows that, if you are fairly careful about keeping a car dry, existing rust may not be a deterrent to enjoying an older car. Wrenching on it or letting your kids hang out around it may be another story, but when your personal economy works against fixing all the rust on your old heap, there are plenty of other things you can do to make it fun. And perhaps that’s the right approach for this 1975 Alfa Romeo Alfetta Berlina for sale for $995 somewhere near Detroit, MI.

Collector Car Appreciation Day – 1973 Ford Pinto

July 8, 2016

With the benefit of hindsight, Ford’s Pinto was an interesting attempt at beating the Europeans and Japanese at their own game. What the Big 3, 4, or 5 considered “compacts” in the past were, by comparison to most imported cars, full-sized and often sported six-cylinder engines that, while fuel efficient compared to their V8 siblings, were by no means miserly with the dino-juice. And while Ford previously offered the Cortina as an economy option, the Pinto was their first North-American designed subcompact offering. And that’s as good a reason as any to feature a Pinto on July 8, Collector Car Appreciation Day, so let’s take a look at this 1973 Ford Pinto for sale for $2800 somewhere in the vicinity of Portland, OR.
