Time to revisit RustyButTrusty on the Street, after a long-ish hiatus, where we look at cars found on the streets on the west coast and beyond. First up is a Chevrolet 3100 van, from about 1953. When you get depressed about the throngs of Priuses and Accords on the highways, doesn’t it make you smile to think someone is daily driving this old thing? The truck looks great in person, and makes you wonder what’s in the back… vintage motorcycles? Woodworking tools? Something ultra-modern like, say, computer and printer repair supplies?

Rare Color – Mocha Frost 1991 Ford Taurus SHO
June 9, 2014After tantalizing you all with the gorgeous intake of that second-generation Taurus SHO last week, we’ve got another one to share. SHOs are already fairly rare cars, but with a bit of poking around, you can find out there were other colors than silver, red and white, and one of those was Mocha Frost (clearly someone was craving a cool, caffeinated drink on a hot day). Beyond that, a limited amount of Tauruses (Tauri? No doubt the vast Ford Taurus enthusiast base will provide an opinion or two) were available with the Plus package tacked on to their SHOs, which included things like a plastic hood with bulge, rear spoiler, and more. However, there were no performance enhancements, so Plus package or no, you still get that sweet V6. Check out this 1991 Ford Taurus SHO Plus for sale for $3500 in Milpitas, CA.
High Mile Hot Rod – 1994 Ford Taurus SHO
June 6, 2014Mostly, 20-year-old performance sedans with high miles are something of which to be afraid – they’re near or beyond the end of their designed lifespans, all the luxury bits are failing and expensive to replace, and the engines are ready for a rebuild. As with all rules, though, there are some exceptions, both for cars known for their longevity, as well as for cars that have been fanatically maintained by enthusiasts with little regard to cost. Sometimes, checking the compression and making sure the critical systems are in working order will tell you more than the odometer ever could. Check out this 1994 Ford Taurus SHO, for sale for C$2800 ($2560 today) in Langley, BC.
