The Elwood Engle-influenced lines make for a particularly handsome period of design from the Chrysler group, and the Dodge Monaco is no exception. The coupe got a hardtop design with a couple of interesting details – a C-pillar that tapered from top to bottom, and a crease across the roof above the rear passengers’ heads that mimicked a bow on a convertible top. The slope of the rear window, combined with the slant of the leading edge ofthe B-pillar, make it look like the car is trying to move forward. And the delta-shaped tail lights can be seen on any number of Dodge products of the era. You can find this 1965 Dodge Monaco pillarless oupe for sale in Detroit, MI for $3800.

December 7, 2013Prettiest Small Coupe – 1970 Fiat 850 Coupe
December 4, 2013When it came out in 1965, the Fiat 850 was recognized as one of the most successful designs of a 4-place compact sports coupe. From its raised headlights through the sloping roof, to the spoiler lip of the engine cover and quad tail lights copying and foreshadowing Ferrari designs (respectively), it had the true look of a sporting Italian car. Sadly, as a budget sports car, very few remain, and fewer still are in regular use. But this is where you, dear reader, come into play. Take the opportunity to get this 1970 Fiat 850 coupe, for sale in Oakland, CA for $3900, back on the road.
Not Oh-Pal – 1974 Opel Ascona and 1971 Opel Manta
December 3, 2013Opels were a not uncommon car back when they were just used cars, but now the youngest ones sold in the US are at least 38 years old, and in their primary role as affordable runabouts, most have disappeared from the roads. However, as most European cars do, they attracted an enthusiast contingent, including one man who has hoarded accumulated a significant collection in warehouses and outdoor lots. Technically, he can’t be called a hoarder since he’s “selling”, although quite a few of his cars are priced to look like they’re waiting for when the rising Porsche tide floats his Opel boats. Of course, in many cases, “where are you going to find another?” is the only response to that statement. You can find his 1974 Opel Ascona A 2-door for sale in Riverside, CA for $1500.
