RHD UKDM No i – 1984 Honda Civic 1500S

January 11, 2016

There’s something fun about driving what looks to be an ordinary car, but with right-hand-drive, in North America. People will expect it to be an ordinary car, so unlike having a right-hand-drive version of something unusual, they won’t look too closely and probably get pretty confused when you get into what they think is the passenger seat. Once you’re past that, though, the older Honda Civics hold up as pretty cool compact cars, more so if you consider one that’s got none of the nasty North American emissions compromises, in addition to sweet 1980s lower-door decals and Mugen wheels. If you want a reliable daily driver that will also throw people for a loop, have a look at this 1984 Honda Civic 1500S for sale for $4500 in Boise, ID.

Deal Alert – 1982 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

January 9, 2016

Alfa Romeos through about 1990 are interesting in that there are several so-called transition models. This is where a car was built, with, say, an upgraded powertrain in the original-style body. Spiders on the 105/115 chassis went through several such transitions – the original round-taill spider was built with a fuel-injected 1750 engine before the square tail car came out, the Series 2 car was built with Bosch electronic fuel injection, variable exhaust valve timing, and interior upgrades before the transition to the Series 3 “aerodinamica” cars, and so on. So if you want something a little rarer among the thousands of Alfa Spiders built, you might consider this 1982 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce for sale for $2900 in San Mateo, CA.

Keeps on Going – 1986 Mercedes 300D and 1995 E300 Diesel

January 8, 2016

Does it seem that new cars need to be everything to everyone? BMWs are now luxurious, Mercedes are now fast, and Lexus and Infiniti were eating everyone’s lunch for a while until the European makers diluted their brands enough to please someone who can’t make up their mind. But if you want modern things like good fuel mileage, decent reliability and most modern power conveniences (wait, what site are we on here??), together with at least 100,000 miles of life still remaining, the W124 Mercedes sedans with a diesel engine are worth a closer look. Of course, there’s no point in subjecting you, the reader, to boring domestic versions you can find in the classifieds on either coast, so instead, check out this 1986 Mercedes 300D for sale for $2900 in Carmel, CA.
