80s Pimpin’ – 1988 Isuzu I-Mark Turbo Sedan

December 11, 2013

Recently departed Isuzu (if you didn’t notice, they left North America in 2009) was most recently known for producing a range of SUVs and trucks running from the boring to the weird, but from the 1970s to the 1990s, they were involved in the production of passenger cars, including some fairly interesting models like the Impulse/Piazza. As with many other manufacturers, they jumped on the turbocharging bandwagon, even with their T-platform car, the I-Mark. You can find this 1988 Isuzu I-Mark Turbo sedan in Lompoc, CA with bidding at $560 and 1 1/2 days to go, or a Buy-it-Now price of $2300.

Terminal Pig Nose? 1967 Citroen HY

October 3, 2013

With our choices limited to what some people would call “credit card money”, there are some vehicles that simply won’t show up on these pages. Ferraris, Rolls Royces, and Tatras are among the cars that are desirable, rare, luxurious, or a combination of those that makes base prices for a desirable example start at the five figure level. While it’s not as luxurious or exclusive as some of the exotics, the Citroen HY is very desirable for its quirky looks and innovative approach to a box on wheels. However, if you’re willing to live with a little (perhaps a lot) of rust, you can pick up this 1967 Citroen HY van in Willits, CA, a couple of hours north of San Francisco, for a mere $3900.

First V12 – 1989 BMW 750 iL

September 13, 2013

BMW today has a large variety of engines – inline 4, inline 6, v8, v10, v12 – but take the time machine back to 1987 and think of what your options were. You had 3-, 5-, 6-, and 7-series models, and depending on where you lived you had a choice of inline 4 and inline 6 engines. The 750 iL was the first to blow that 30ish-year convention out of the water, offering two side-by-side M20 inline sixes in BMW’s first V12 engine for 300hp and 330 lb.-ft. of thrust. You can find this first-year BMW 750 iL for $2500 in the Fort Worth area of Texas.
