Does your “friend” want a European classic car? The one who doesn’t have a lot of time to mess around with things like “maintenance”, “strange noises”, and “aging luxury features”, but a Beetle is too common? Or maybe your “friend” likes the classic car aesthetic, but you don’t really think they’re up to the lifestyle? What you your friend needs is a starter classic – a car to see if the noise, vibration and general harshness is tolerable, even enjoyable, and fits into the rest of life. A Volvo 122S might be the droid you are looking for. Check out this 1965 Volvo 122S Wagon for sale for $3950 in Berkeley (where else?), CA.

September 9, 2015RustyButTrusty on the Track – 1979 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT Goes To Laguna Seca
December 5, 2014Forgive the repetition, but it’s no fun having old cars if you don’t use them – whether it’s for a car show, a track day, a cruising night or a backroads drive, or just a simple errand. So in spite of the ongoing relocation of RustyButTrusty HQ to a colder climate, and winter’s imminent arrival, there are still opportunities to get the cars out for some exercise. Nearly Live From The Scene – 2014 California Melee Report
September 9, 2014This past weekend was the occasion for the 2014 California Melee, a low-buck 3-day event that’s been held since 1997. The Melee features fast back road touring in roughly the same vicinity as its more high-brow neighbor, the California Mille (Miglia), going from San Francisco to Red Bluff to Fort Bragg and back to SF. In addition to fantastic driving, you get great scenery since this covers the wine country, Central Valley, and the northern California coast with its beautiful shoreline and gigantic redwood trees. There are also a few dirt sections, which explains the condition of the RustyButTrusty 2002.
