Eclipsed, Scandinavian Style – 1957 Volvo P210 Duett

December 9, 2015

If you’ve spent any amount of time browsing the internet for cars, you’ve probably run into some of those crazy Scandinavian cars that take, say, a classic early Saab 99, drop in a later turbo engine, mate it to a quattro system from an Audi 100, and tweak it to make over 700hp. Well, we North Americans might not have as many creative builds that are famous on the internet, but they do crop up every so often. For an example of US ingenuity, take a look at this 1957 Volvo P210 Duett for sale for $3500 in Spokane, WA.

Swedish for Ford – 1964 Volvo 544

October 28, 2015

Volvo’s 544 was arguably the first foray for Swedish cars in the North American market that successfully built the foundation of Volvo’s reputation there, and perhaps even Swedish cars in general. It’s a sporting but sturdy car with plenty of interior room. Its styling, which was dated even when it was new, also started a long-lasting trend for Volvo – while later Volvos were not dated when new, Volvo did make the most of every design, getting more value out of each one than most manufacturers would. Check out this 1964 Volvo 544 for sale for $3950 in Tigard, OR.

Finally – Volvo 122S Wagon

September 9, 2015

Does your “friend” want a European classic car? The one who doesn’t have a lot of time to mess around with things like “maintenance”, “strange noises”, and “aging luxury features”, but a Beetle is too common? Or maybe your “friend” likes the classic car aesthetic, but you don’t really think they’re up to the lifestyle? What you your friend needs is a starter classic – a car to see if the noise, vibration and general harshness is tolerable, even enjoyable, and fits into the rest of life. A Volvo 122S might be the droid you are looking for. Check out this 1965 Volvo 122S Wagon for sale for $3950 in Berkeley (where else?), CA.
