Some cars unambiguously epitomize their country of origin, often showing off what made the country great. Mercedes’ W123 sedans couldn’t be more German, a 1959 Cadillac couldn’t be more American, and a TVR couldn’t be more British. That kind of comparison isn’t always flattering, but it doesn’t mean you can’t love it all the same – check out this 1979 Ford Pinto Cruising Wagon for sale for C$1500 (currently US$1150) in Edmonton, AB. November 3, 201596 in a Nice Frock – 1973 Saab Sonett III
November 2, 2015With the demise of Saab, now 4 years ago, and the fact that 3 Saabs are ancestors of the RustyButTrusty fleet, it’s hard to overlook an affordable Saab. Saabs are already unusual cars, but if you take that unusual car and clothe it in an Italian-inspired, fiberglass body with seats for two and the obligatory hatchback, you have something truly unusual. Frankly, they make their compatriot sports car, the attractive Volvo P1800, seem downright plain. Check out this 1973 Saab Sonett III for sale for $2700 in Kalispell, MT.
Special Canadian – 1966 Mercury M100
October 30, 2015Even though this site has a primary focus on cars, it’s interesting to take an occasional look at other related vehicles that either enable the hobby or capture some of the same elements we like so much about affordable classics. With pickup trucks it’s a little of both – they can help haul stuff around, and they have an elemental simplicity and purity of focus since they were built mainly with utility in mind. Of course, the other focus of this site is the oddball, and nothing scratches that itch like an otherwise ordinary truck that’s been rebranded for sale in another market. With that, check out this 1966 Mercury M100 for sale for $3000 in Calgary, AB.
