One interesting thing to note is that not only is there a vibrant automotive enthusiast scene in the dry western states, but also that people drive their older vehicles on a more frequent basis. That even includes commercial vehicles, some of which are still in use by businesses at the ripe old age (for a car, of course!) of 50 or 60. However, before we get too far down that path, let’s check out some recent sightings.

December 8, 2013Future Brothers – 1973 Fiat 128 Sport L
December 7, 2013Who isn’t a sucker for something pretty and Italian? And if it’s an unusual variant of an already-rare model, with some neat modifications, it’s like catnip to us. The Fiat 128 Sport L (also known as an SL, but this is what the badge says), with its innovative sedan underpinnings, was a pretty little coupe that took some of its lines from the Fiat versions of Dinos, not a bad place at all from which to take inspiration. You can also see some of big brother 124 coupe in there. Next to the Sport L, the successor model 128 3P looks more like Fiat’s quick-and-dirty attempt to put together a hatch to compete with the A1 VW Golf. You can find this 1973 Fiat 128 Sport L for sale in Eugene, OR with bidding at $2025, reserve not met, and about 4 days left to go.
Future Brothers – 1965 Dodge Monaco
December 7, 2013The Elwood Engle-influenced lines make for a particularly handsome period of design from the Chrysler group, and the Dodge Monaco is no exception. The coupe got a hardtop design with a couple of interesting details – a C-pillar that tapered from top to bottom, and a crease across the roof above the rear passengers’ heads that mimicked a bow on a convertible top. The slope of the rear window, combined with the slant of the leading edge ofthe B-pillar, make it look like the car is trying to move forward. And the delta-shaped tail lights can be seen on any number of Dodge products of the era. You can find this 1965 Dodge Monaco pillarless oupe for sale in Detroit, MI for $3800.
