Mean Greenie – 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde

November 30, 2015

BMW’s E30 and E10 sedans are great, balanced cars, but while they are great cars with nice engines, what if you wanted something a little more, um, niche-y? Around the same time as BMW was selling their E30 sedan, Alfa Romeo offered the 161 sedan, with a 154hp 2.5-liter V6 as seen in the GTV6, or a 188hp 3.0-liter V6 for the top-of-the-line Verde version. While it’s not recognized as such, this car, by numbers and performance, is a viable alternative to an E30 M3 or Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 at a fraction of the cost of entry. Of course, let’s not mention the divisive styling, timing belt and tensioner changes, or the ARC, basically a renamed idiot light display panel. Non-Profit – 1977 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT

November 28, 2015

Not many cars can get quite as crispy as an Alfetta GT, and for our turkey weekend, here’s a prime example, in that even cars that were carefully stored outdoors in a dry environment (okay, near an ocean, kind of) can end up pretty rusty. That said, an optimistic eye (hey, you’re reading this site, you have to be at least a partial optimist) will show plenty of surface rust, but not much serious structural rust, so hopefully that assessment will prove accurate. After all, ugly is fine, but it’s a little harder to compromise on things like your seat falling through the floor. Check out this 1977 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT for sale for $650 in Carmel Valley, CA.

White Elephant – 1976 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT

November 21, 2015

As a writer, it’s a privilege to be able to highlight any particular model of car, especially ones that are overlooked by most enthusiasts. Frequent readers will know the Alfetta GT provided a lot of inspiration for this site, and as a result each one within the self-imposed price ceiling is featured here. Of course, sometimes that means featuring white elephant cars – unrecoverable projects, or cars for sale from owners who have an overinflated idea of their value. A good example of such a situation is today’s feature car – check out this 1976 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT for sale for $3495 in Boise, ID.
