Four Brothers Ranch – 1965 Datsun 320

October 23, 2013

It’s interesting to find that, as recently as the mid-1960s, there were cars that are not considered freeway capable. One of these was the Datsun 320 pickup. While only having 60hp should not prevent you from maintaining freeway speeds (various compact foreign cars of the time did), the low gearing to support a 1-ton load capacity would. That said, for an around town runner – or, in a larger city, an alternative to a scooter or one of those metermaid cars – this truck would work just fine, and would allow you to occasionally move car parts, furniture, and livestock. Which brings us to our feature truck, a 1965 Datsun 320 in Spanish Springs, NV, near Reno, for $1800.

1967 Datsun 2000 Fairlady

September 14, 2013

With the vintage Japanese car scene growing, these cars have finally been getting the attention they deserve. The 2-liter engine cranks out respectable power (more than many of its competitors), and the styling is as good as that of most of its sixties English competitors. This particular car is under restoration, but looks like it would make a good driving project. As a good runner with many new parts, it should make a fun driver while you get the cosmetics fixed up. This Datsun 2000 is available in Tucson, AZ for $3500.

Back in CA – 1972 Datsun 510 Wagon

September 4, 2013

It’s been a while since we’ve featured a pre-1980s Japanese car, so it’s time to revisit that part of the market. Looking around at old Datsuns, the 510 came to mind, and it’s surprising how few are currently available, even on the west coast. However, they are still out there in all their different versions, among them this first-generation 510 wagon, currently at $1500 with 1 day’s bidding left to go in Chico, CA.
