With the RustyButTrusty fleet manager recently missing out on an opportunity to pick up a 3-figure classic Italian coupe in decent shape, it’s time to feature one of the more readily available four-figure Italian coupes. While there are some 3-figure cars out there, it’s a good chance you’ll have to put in a fair amount of work to get them usable. And with this car, it looks to be a usable driver, but a detailed look will give you an idea of what you’re signing up for. Check out this 1977 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT for sale for $3500 in Astoria, OR.

December 29, 2014RustyButTrusty on the Track – 1979 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT Goes To Laguna Seca
December 5, 2014Forgive the repetition, but it’s no fun having old cars if you don’t use them – whether it’s for a car show, a track day, a cruising night or a backroads drive, or just a simple errand. So in spite of the ongoing relocation of RustyButTrusty HQ to a colder climate, and winter’s imminent arrival, there are still opportunities to get the cars out for some exercise. In this case, it was to use a gift certificate for a Hooked on Driving track day at the historic Laguna Seca race track in Salinas, CA.
More Underdog – 1979 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT
February 6, 2014Here at RustyButTrusty, we’re endless defenders of the Alfetta’s honor. Apparently, the joys of the Alfetta are being recognized in other parts of the world, but here their reputation has been somewhat permanently damaged by all the modifications required to make them conform to then-new environmental and safety regulations. At this point, most states will let you toss the one major safety modification you really don’t want if you care about performance – the bumpers – and many states also don’t care if you dump the primitive emissions equipment on a car that only gets driven a few thousand miles per year (damn you, California!). Even within the confines of California laws, there are some changes you can make (1750 cams, 10:1 pistons) the smog police won’t be able to see, although that’s only worth doing if you’re already doing an engine rebuild. You can find this seemingly stock 1979 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT for sale for $3500 in Oakland, CA.
