If today’s Mercedes SLC is too big, and a Porsche 911 is, well, too German, but you still want a 4-seat coupe with some style and a little sport thrown in, perhaps the Corvair is your pick. Corvairs are to car nuts as cats are to animal lovers – having one or two is pretty normal, but if you have ten living in your back yard, people will give each other that knowing look behind your back. To start you down the path of being crazy cat Corvair lady, check out this 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa for sale for $3250 in San Jose, CA.

The Other Flattie – 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa
October 17, 2014Fuel Crisis Coupe – 1973 Mercedes 450 SLC
October 17, 2014The early 1970s is an interesting period for GT cars – many were built in the idiom of the golden age of postwar GTs, but most weren’t anywhere near as successful due to all those 1970s factors – fuel crises, emissions regulations, and in a way, safety regulations. Some pretty interesting cars were built in that period, including the Jensen Interceptor, Citroen SM, Triumph Stag, BMW E9 coupes, and Mercedes C107 coupes. The latter car remains the most affordable option today, and you can get a pretty decent car for short money compared to the others. What’s more is, parts are readily available due to the long life of their R107 roadster siblings, if not exactly cheap, and if you get an early-build (1972-3) car, you can get slim chrome bumpers instead of the ridiculous diving boards that did a lot to deface what was actually a fairly elegant design. You can find this 1973 Mercedes 450 SLC for sale for $4000 in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose, CA.
Piccolo Truck – 1976 Fiat 128 Pickup
October 16, 2014So if the Ford Squire from the other day is just too confining, a Subaru BRAT has too many seats in the bed, and a VW pickup is just too big, there’s really not much out there for you. Fortunately, you’re not the only one who felt that way, and that’s why one man, no, one visionary grabbed a Sawzall, did some surgery on a 128 wagon, and presto! Those of you complaining about the lack of available small pickups should be thanking this person. Check out this 1976 Fiat 128 Pickup for sale for $1800 in Washougal, WA.
