Piccolo Truck – 1976 Fiat 128 Pickup

October 16, 2014

So if the Ford Squire from the other day is just too confining, a Subaru BRAT has too many seats in the bed, and a VW pickup is just too big, there’s really not much out there for you. Fortunately, you’re not the only one who felt that way, and that’s why one man, no, one visionary grabbed a Sawzall, did some surgery on a 128 wagon, and presto! Those of you complaining about the lack of available small pickups should be thanking this person. Check out this 1976 Fiat 128 Pickup for sale for $1800 in Washougal, WA.

Troubled Child – 1978 Subaru BRAT

September 23, 2014

A past feature article included a list of criteria for featuring cars here, basically covering various features that come in unexpected quantities (4-seater Miata, anyone?) or dimensions, or things that function differently than you’d expect, like suicide doors. Subaru’s BRAT, designed to circumvent the infamous VW DoKa-killing chicken tax, is another perfect match – a half-car with two seats in the bed that look like someone beat up the local kids, stole their Big Wheels, and bolted the seats into the bed. Check out this 1978 Subaru BRAT for sale for $1900 in Vancouver, WA.

Untouched Survivor – 1966 Dodge D100

July 12, 2014

Overall, the bias here is towards cars. But every so often, a truck comes up with a certain charm that’s enough to make it worth featuring. The Dodge D100 is one of those trucks – it’s a little funky, and definitely Dodge, and different for not being every other GM or Ford pickup out there. With a very boxy shape combined with goofy oversize headlight trim and styled sides, it looks a little like a gawky teenager, which is what pickups of the 1950s and 1960s were, in a sense – they were in transition from being a work vehicle to being a passenger vehicle. Check out this 1966 Dodge D100 for sale for $2400 in Vancouver, WA.
