The Anti-E30 – 1987 Maserati BiTurbo Si

September 16, 2013

The BMW E30 3-series of 1983-91 is currently filling the niche of affordable used sports sedan. However, in the time before Mercedes was trying to be both sporty *and* luxurious, and before Lexus and Infiniti were a glint in their Daddies’ eyes, there still was some competition, however feeble. And two of those competitors were Italian – the more fully-developed Alfa Romeo Milano, and the somewhat quality-challenged Maserati BiTurbo. This 1987 BiTurbo Si is available in Shingle Springs, CA with bidding at $2475 and only 2 1/2 days left to go.

Pick ‘n’ Pull Palooza – 1971 Fiat Spider and 1986 Fiat X1/9

September 15, 2013

The local Pick ‘n’ Pull junkyards 9excuse me, automotive recycling centers) up in western Washington seem to be having a good run of Fiats lately, so it’s become worthwhile to highlight some of the offerings. Fiat spiders are still a great bargain compared to other comparable cars, and as a result, the earlier ones with small bumpers and more elegant detailing are becoming harder and harder to find. This 1971 spider should have the 1608cc twincam engine under the early smooth hood, and is available in Olympia, WA for $1100.

What’s Two-Fer in Italian? Pair of Fiat 850 Spiders

September 9, 2013

Is it due-per? Anyhow, these little Bertone spiders are such fun-looking little cars. People who’ve owned them say that although they’re not fast, they feel quick, and of course there’s the whole thing about having a great time going at 10/10ths in a slow car. There’s also something remarkably sophisticated about them for a car their class – front disc brakes, coils and trailing link suspension at the rear, and simple folding top that hides under a tidy metal cover. And what is better than a car of such elegance and pedigree as the Fiat 850 spider? Two Fiat 850 spiders, for the bargain price of $4000 in Covington, WA.
