Buy 2, Get 1 Free – Peugeot 404 Wagon Trio

June 4, 2014

Often, buying in bulk can save you money. Say, picking up a 3-pack of shovels at Costco – you only really needed one shovel, but if you buy three, it’s like you’re paying for two and getting the third one free. So before you know it, the shovels have made it into your cart, past the checker and into your trunk. How about cases where buying in bulk does not save you money? Well, a nice driver Peugeot 404 sedan is typically around $4000 (more on that in a future feature), but for half the price, you can get a full set of 3 wagons! Check out this set of Peugeot 404 Break for sale for $1950 in Tarzana, CA.

French Manual Wagon – 1985 Peugeot 505 S

May 5, 2014

For people who like cars, but also need significant load-hauling capability, there are not a lot of options. Most wagons, vans, and trucks come with automatic transmissions, and there are not very many multipurpose options. Furthermore, since the demise of Saab, and with the long-ago departure of Citroen, Peugeot, and Renault from North America, and the much more design-oriented focus of the remaining luxury makes in recent years, there aren’t many luxury cars that will also let you haul the occasional arm chair or Christmas tree. So we have to look back to the past, and specifically at this 1985 Peugeot 505S for sale for $2000 in Corte Madera, CA.

Grande Break – 1967 Peugeot 403 Wagon

April 30, 2014

The 1950s Peugeot 403 survived well into the 1960s, in spite of being succeeded by the more modern 404 in 1960. It was demoted to being Peugeot’s budget model, but the break enjoyed some level of popularity in France, particularly with the gendarmes. And it’s no wonder, since in addition to being capacious and economical, these cars were just about unkillable. These cars had the build quality and solidity to rival contemporary Mercedes, so it’s interesting to think about how Mercedes became a builder of exclusive luxury cars, where Peugeot became a builder of occasionally sporting economy and entry-level luxury cars. If you’re interested in a ponton Peugeot, check out this 1967 Peugeot 403 wagon, for sale for €1000 ($1387 today) in Arrou, France.
