RustyButTrusty On The Street – BMW and VW

Here’s another installation of RustyButTrusty On The Street, celebrating what you can spot on a walk around the ‘hood. Our first find is this square-taillight BMW 2002, modified with 1971-73 long bumper in the back, Recaro driver’s seat, and a spoiler in the front with a tube bumper for protection from careless parkers. It’s also got some sweet 1980s mesh wheels, and nicely-aged Verona red paint. If you’re an old car owner, isn’t there a small part of you that would like to have a bumper designed to damage the other car first?

Our second sighting is an early 1970s VW Type 3 Squareback. This one is a resident here, and looks pretty decent for a daily driven street parked car. It has some very peculiar rust bubbles, right in the middle of the driver’s door, below the trim. Perhaps this is the result of a poorly done repair job from 20 years ago, it’s hard to say.
