Still Pretty – 1967 Fiat 850 Coupe

If you’re into small displacement sports cars, perhaps even the pretty little Etceterini with curvy bodies that seem impossibly well-proportioned for their size, as well as impossibly expensive relative to their size, you can’t overlook Fiat’s own 850 coupe. Designed by Boano, who had a few independent successes before joining the dark side, they managed to imbue much more elegance on this car than one could imagine. From the (relatively) long hood to the sloping rear deck and quad rear lights, this car was clearly meant to make sporting elegance accessible to l’uomo della strada. You can find this early 1967 Fiat 850 Sport Coupe for sale in Kelowna, WA for $3120.

As you can see, this one seems to be mid-restoration. The seller says it belonged to his friend’s parents, who passed away, and he is now trying to do a quick sale. Some side glass appears to be out, the hubcaps and bumpers are missing, and new tires are needed. Interestingly, the car is said to be a one-family car with only 59,000 miles and one repaint. However, the seller does not offer any more details. On a rebuild of a lower end car, though, you can expect that most interior trim will need attention. Hopefully the dash is reasonably intact, being in the cooler Washington climate.

The early coupes get the small round Italian style side markers, which go well with the rest of the design. However, they also have the tiny smog-avoiding 817cc engine, although many have since been upgraded. Can the charm of this little car convince you to bring it back on the road?
