Another way to find an affordable classic car for sale is to troll through the older listings and see what turns up. While there will no doubt be some duds in there, both in terms of the car and the listing itself, services like craigslist require you to relist your item at the end of a predetermined interval. And while the reason for a no-sale could be the car, it could also be the description, the price, the seller, or the fact that the listing has disappeared from the top of search results. One of those factors is the reason why this 1962 Austin Healey Sprite, for sale in Fair Oaks, CA for $4000, has not sold yet.
While the red paint could hide a lot in pictures, it’s definitely an older job as it’s oxidized over the years, so an in-person inspection would reveal any serious issues. The car also looks very complete, barring windshield wipers, and has a rollbar for at least a minimal level of protection. There’s something great about such a basic car, without even door handles or wind-up windows to get in the way. It’s part of the reason many people get into classic cars – fewer systems means fewer things to go wrong, and ease of access, diagnosis and repair when they do.
The car is said to have a 1275cc engine with oversize (greater duration?) cam, Weber carb, and new clutch, all running well. The seller is open to any reasonable offers, so with complete project cars going for a grand, perhaps $3000 or $3500 might get you behind the wheel?

Love it, but it’s almost 3000 miles away.
